NEIGHBOURHOOD PROFILE:
South Central Vancouver
South Vancouver covers the largest geographical area of the Vancouver neighbourhoods. Overall, South Vancouver is primarily mid-century suburban housing dotted with several neighbourhood service centres. In terms of demographics, residents of the western edges are some of the city's most affluent. To the south, many active industries still operate along the Fraser River while residents of this area are some of the city's most ethnically diverse.
For the purposes of this web site, South Vancouver is referred to as a single neighbourhood, however the area features many individual neighbourhood centres, each with their own characteristics. If you are in the area, be sure to check out the upscale Kerrisdale neighbourhood, Queen Elizabeth Park, Van Dusen Gardens, Little India at 49th and Main Street, or one of the many diverse centres along Main, Cambie, and Arbutus streets.
