NEIGHBOURHOOD PROFILE:
Strathcona / Mt. Pleasant
Essentially two neighbourhoods, Strathcona stretches from Main Street eastwards in behind historic Chinatown, while further south, Mt. Pleasant is the hilltop area centred at the crossroads of Main Street and Broadway.
In recent years, the area around Main Street has grown to become one of Vancouver’s hottest neighbourhoods, with many new hip clothing stores, cafes, and restaurants popping up between 6th and 33rd Avenue. This area has few ‘traditional’ pubs. Instead, one can find stylish establishments that offer a blend of creative food, modern music, and a laid back atmosphere.
Further north, near the outskirts of Chinatown, one will find several long-standing establishments, most of which are attached to older, more modest hotels.
